The Reclamation 2023
A Retreat to Reset Your Nervous System
August 16 - 20, 2023
We live in a world that normalizes living with dysregulated nervous systems. Many of us are in search of ways to support ourselves: in managing our perpetually elevated anxiety levels, lack of sleep, disconnection to our bodies or emotions, consistent overwhelm, constricted bandwidth, or similar symptoms of burnout.
Living in scarcity is depleting. So much opens up for us when we operate from a regulated nervous system.
What would it look like to reclaim our nervous system with some simple tools, rituals, and practices that we could integrate into our tool kit?
The Reclamation
The Reclamation was born out of a desire to share an intentionally designed retreat that offers folks the spaciousness to connect with themselves, to explore modalities that prioritize reconnection with the physical body, which then grants access to a reset nervous system through emotional and energetic practices intentioned to shift a person from scarcity to open heartedness.
In this work, we are not experts. We simply are sharing tools we have experienced in our own bodies and practiced in our own self care as a way to help others be guided towards the inner wisdom each person possesses within. We are creating a co-collaborative space of exploration and rediscovery, with the intention of healing.
Your Hosts
Back in 2019, Erin and Liz met as instructors at Yoga Garden (now known as Folk), bonding over the body-mind connection, subtle body and emotional resiliency, and travel. Over a six hour date at Aquatic Park, their Women’s Empowerment Retreat was born. As they geared up to offer a retreat with a shared mission to help women reconnect with their power within, COVID hit, forcing their hand at cancelling travel and retreats for the near future.
Fast forward to 2023, the shared vision has grown and evolved, becoming The Reclamation.
In the last few years, both Erin and Liz have grown their practices, exploring a wide spectrum of modalities between them like Katonah Yoga, Somatic Experiencing, EFT, Guided Visualization, Trauma-Informed Therapies, and more. With tools they’ve gleaned along their own healing pathways, they feel honored to share practices for folks to add to their own toolkit, understanding how powerful it is for anyone to move from a grounded and reclaimed nervous system.
Erin Carney (she/her) has always been a seeker. From as early as she can remember there has been a yearning to try to understand what this living thing is all about. Because of her own struggles and grief and explorations through the layers that the human experience contains, Erin was always devoted to learning and to getting a grip on my mind and investigating what is it that sparks us awake? How do we expand both our boundaries and interior edges? She has done teacher trainings with Jacqui Bonwell, Marc St. Pierre and Janet Stone as well as ongoing training with some of my mentors including Georgia Reath, Rod Stryker and Schuyler Grant (among many). She has been teaching since 2012, am a certified Reiki 2 practitioner, as well as a certified holistic health coach. Erin has led numerous workshops, co-facilitated yoga teacher trainings on the northshore of Boston and in San Francisco, and have led international retreats to the likes of Mallorca, Mexico, Morocco, Costa Rica, Bali, Tanzania and throughout the US, all with the aim of reestablishing a deeper connection within ourselves, facilitating our capacity to heal, to expand into ourselves, and to be of more service in the world.
Erin believes that yoga is for every body. That when we slow down, we tune in. That the breath helps us process what is going on in the body and mind. That meditation is medicine. And that there is magic to be found by both finding newness in everyday routine and in the way that travel can bring us back home to ourselves. Her mission is the pursuit of awakening and living our fullest life and I hope to connect with you along the path.
Liz Andolong (she/her) is a healing arts practitioner, facilitator, and intuitive educator who is passionate about holding spaces for folks to do less and feel more. A lifelong student of the human body and spirit, she shares body-centered experiences to support folks in cultivating a resilient mind-body-spirit connection to live authentically. Her teachings are a coalescence of studies in nervous system regulation, somatic embodiment, trauma work, energetic healing, astrology, mindful movement, anatomy, restorative and awareness practices, subtle body exploration, and guided visualization mostly to support the practice of pause. It is within this “sacred pause” that she believes folks are able to truly tap into the limitless healing power accessible within every body.
Born and based in San Francisco, Liz has offered retreats internationally as well as held a myriad of workshops in the Bay Area. A certified Usui Reiki Master, E-RYT200, and recent teacher-in-residence at the Esalen Institute, she is most passionate about making healing accessible for the BIPOC community, especially sharing offerings through a trauma-informed lens that honors our inner knowing. Liz guides you from the outside in, in hopes you discover the infinite ways our bodies are our greatest teachers.
New Mexico Magic
The Reclamation will be held in Taos, New Mexico - internationally renowned as an art colony haven for many prolific artists and home to a World Heritage Unesco site of a living Native American community in nearby Pueblo. We’ll be convening at the Hyperslow Retreat Center (formerly the San Geronimo Lodge) whose open-space property is nestled beside the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Fernando de Taos river (a branch of the Rio Grande). When we first began dreaming of The Reclamation, we intended the physical space to be one that immediately brings a sensation of freedom and spaciousness to those attending, selecting this beautiful location on 2.3 acres of open land.
The Retreat
Over the four days at The Reclamation, nervous system reset will be the priority through daily movement and embodiment practices to gently drop into our physical bodies, supplemented by supportive energetic and subtle body exploration to invite folks to inhabit their inner landscape with compassion and gentleness.
Each day of The Reclamation will be focused around reconnection to our four main energetic centers: the head, throat, heart, and stomach with rituals to rebuild one’s intuition and inner knowing. Whether it be resting poolside, curled up with a book, having free time to nap, journal, or engage in artwork, or scheduling a healing bodywork session, plenty of space to rest as integrating the work is another tenet of this retreat.
Three nourishing meals a day will be offered by Chef Alanna. With these meals, the focus will be sustenance that supports our bodies’ reset, with all meals being vegan.
